Good afternoon Salem families!
The federal mandate requiring individuals to wear masks on school buses has been lifted. Beginning Monday, February 28th, masks will be optional (but still encouraged) on Salem school buses. This is to better align what we are doing on the buses with what we are doing in the buildings. We hope you have a great weekend and we will see you Monday.

We feel that in the best interest of safety for our students and staff a delay is in our best interest. There will not be a Prosser bus due to the delay. If your student cannot make it to school, please contact your student's school and let them know. Stay safe!

Facial Coverings/Masks: Campus and Buildings
Although face coverings or masks are highly recommended, as of February 22, 2022 SCS will not require students to wear face coverings or masks on school campuses and in school buildings. Face coverings are recommended for any student or staff member who is unvaccinated and/or considered to be in a higher risk category. SCS will continue to monitor and adhere to any state and/or federal mandates placed on K-12 schools.
Note: Exception is as follows:
SCS Nursing Staff reserves the right to use their professional judgement and clinical expertise when sending a student home and when determining appropriate quarantine for students and staff members per CDC guidelines.
Any student or staff member that has been exposed or had a positive Covid test will continue to follow current CDC guidelines which include quarantine and masking.
Close contacts not exhibiting symptoms will not be required to quarantine, but will be monitored daily, and be required to wear a mask for 5 days. Parents of close contacts will be notified and parents will be given the option of quarantining their child. Absences due to quarantine will be excused.
Facial Coverings/Masks: Transportation
Per the current federal mandate, facial coverings (masks) are required on public transportation. Thus, bus drivers, bus aides, and all students including vaccinated students and staff, using school bus public transportation will be required to wear a face covering/mask while boarding, riding, and deboarding the school bus.
SCS will closely monitor this mandate and will adjust accordingly.

Good evening Salem Families!
Due to the flooding, Salem Community Schools will be on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, Friday, February 18th. This delay will allow for more daylight giving the drivers a better view of the roads and allow more time for water to recede. Please stay safe and if your student cannot get to school due to flooding, please contact your student's school tomorrow morning.
