"Salem Community Schools is approved as a Community Eligible Program school at all three schools for school year 21-22. This means EVERY student at Salem Community Schools qualifies for free meals. This also means every student at Salem Community Schools that was a student from August 26 - September 3 when we were virtual due to COVID 19 should receive Pandemic EBT benefits. In addition, if your student was absent due to quarantine or a positive COVID case in the month of August or September your student will also receive benefits for those days as well. Please note the State of Indiana does not contact us once they issue the benefits. However, after a few calls from parents we now know they have mailed the issuance for August and September of 2021. If your student had a P-EBT card last year the funds will be loaded to that card. If your student did not receive a card last year they will be issued a new card. Keep this card for future funds that may be issued. Please see the attached document for FAQ's about the P-EBT benefit or visit this website: https://www.in.gov/fssa/dfr/dfr-policy-changes-and-actions/pandemic-ebt/ "

SCS Families, Out of an abundance of caution per local weather forecasts, Salem Community Schools will move to an E-Learning Day for Thursday January 6th. Teachers will post assignments by 9 am to Google Classroom or plans communicated individually. It is our hope that by making this decision tonight we are able to keep students, parents and staff safe. Thank you.

SCS will actively watch the forecast for a snow event over the next 24 hours. Due to timing, there is a potential for early dismissal or eLearning on Thursday. In the event of early dismissal we will try to make that call as early as possible. Any information will be released via our social media, local radio, and our school messenger system. We feel it is best to communicate to you our plans so that you can be prepared in the event of an early dismissal. If we need to switch to eLearning we will make that decision tomorrow morning.
