We no longer have a waiver from USDA allowing us to serve children that are not students of Salem Schools. Salem Families, Good afternoon! We are contacting you to let you know that Salem Community Schools will be moving to virtual learning for Tuesday, January 18th, and Wednesday, January 19th, due to a large number of staff out because of COVID. SCS is out on Monday, January 17th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We are hopeful we will be able to return on Thursday, January 20th, with most of our students and staff back. Tonight's boys varsity basketball game is being postponed until a later date (TBD). JV was already cancelled. All pre-purchased tickets have been refunded. The refund process may take a couple of hours to go through.

"Salem Community Schools is approved as a Community Eligible Program school at all three schools for school year 21-22. This means EVERY student at Salem Community Schools qualifies for free meals. This also means every student at Salem Community Schools that was a student from August 26 - September 3 when we were virtual due to COVID 19 should receive Pandemic EBT benefits. In addition, if your student was absent due to quarantine or a positive COVID case in the month of August or September your student will also receive benefits for those days as well. Please note the State of Indiana does not contact us once they issue the benefits. However, after a few calls from parents we now know they have mailed the issuance for August and September of 2021. If your student had a P-EBT card last year the funds will be loaded to that card. If your student did not receive a card last year they will be issued a new card. Keep this card for future funds that may be issued.
