The health department had their inspection in all three school kitchens today. Thanks to having the best lunch ladies on the planet he said they were top notch in Washington County! He said he wished we would open up a restaurant. SCS Director of Food Services Karen Libka reminded him we do have a restaurant. Three restaurants in fact and the biggest chain in Washington County! There were no violations found in any of the kitchens.
Congratulations to our cafe managers Terra, Mindy, Patty and their staff! Making Salem Schools shine even under very tough conditions.

Good evening Salem Families!
Salem Community Schools will be in session tomorrow, but due to the boil water advisory we are asking parents, if possible, to send 1-2 bottles of water with each student. The school will be purchasing water to have on hand for those who cannot. Thank you for your help in this situation.

The game tonight vs. East Washington is cancelled due to both schools not having water. Rescheduled for 2/19. Also last night's game rescheduled for Monday night.

Tonight's Salem vs. Austin basketball game is CANCELLED. The make-up date is TBD. All pre-purchased tickets will be refunded. Tomorrow's game is still on at this time.

Tonight's JV/V Boys basketball game vs. Austin is still on as scheduled at this time. Road conditions can improve over the next 9 hours so we will continue to assess this situation. IF we need to cancel, we will post it on these same sites.

Salem Families!
Due to the increased snow fall and the predicted snow fall this afternoon, Salem Community Schools will be closing today and moving to virtual learning. Assignments should be posted by 9 a.m.

Good morning Salem Families!
Due to some county roads being snow covered, Salem Community Schools will be on a 2 hour delay today, Friday, January 28th. If a bus driver feels he/she cannot make it down a road, then he/she will not travel down that road. If a bus cannot pick up your student and/or your student cannot make it to school due to the roads, please contact your student's school. Thank you!

SCS students continue to do amazing things. SHS Senior Jimmy Gibson has been recognized for his vocal talent as a semi-finalist in the Butler University Vocal Competition. He is one of 21 total semi-finalists selected from a nationwide pool of high school age applicants. Jimmy will travel to Butler University on February 12 to compete in person. A $500 prize will be awarded to the first place contestant as well as $300 for second place, and $200 for third. A $100 Encouragement Award is also awarded to a contestant in Grades 9 or 10.
To make it to the semi-finals, each singer was required to provide a video performance of two selections from memory that included at least one piece in English and another in a different language, and one needed to represent a Classical style. While on campus for the competition, Jimmy will be able to participate in optional workshops and classes with faculty, as well as an awards ceremony and group performance.
