Kindergarten students

Kindergarten registration is right around the corner. Parents who are preparing to send their children off to kindergarten need to have an appointment with Bradie Shrum Elementary to register their child for school. Registration will be held April 13th and 14th.

When registering for kindergarten parents must have their child's birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of address. Parents must also bring their driver's license. The child who is being registered for kindergarten must attend with their parents.

In order to make an appointment parents or guardians can call 812-883-3700. Registration should take approximately one hour, which includes the testing process. BSE registers 80-100 kindergarteners every year and signs up at least 20 more during the summer months.

The first day of school is especially hard for kindergarteners. Kindergarten teacher Amy Weaver said that parents can make the first day easier by coming to Welcome Night to meet their teacher and see the classroom. Welcome Night is held in August. Weaver added that the night before school starts parents need to make sure that their child goes to bed early.

“We look forward to seeing the incoming kindergarten students this year during our K registration,” Weaver said.
