Notes to Teachers
- This project targets French IV and Economics students in grade 12.
- The project included six class periods in the computer lab (3 class periods
from French IV and 3 from Economics). These class periods were used to
research, create the Power Point presentations and the itinerary spreadsheets.
- Following the completion of the group work in the lab, it will take 2 to 3
class periods (in each class) to present the Power Point presentations.
- French IV journals will be completed by students on their own time as
homework.
- Students will be able to evaluate the usefulness of websites and printed
materials. Students will be able to create Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets and
Power Point
presentations. Students will learn how to plan a trip and manage their money
throughout their travels.
- In Economics, we have just completed a unit on international trade and
comparative economic systems. This project is the final component of our unit
on international trade.
- In French, this project is an extension of our cultural studies. This
project applies to various parts of my curriculum and can be applied at any
time.
- Other foreign language classes (such as Spanish) could benefit from this
project. The Microsoft Excel portion of the project could easily be adapted to
fit the mathematical curriculum.
- We welcome any feedback from other teachers who attempt this project. Please
complete the evaluation form section, cut and paste into an e-mail message and
send back to either Joanna Schmidt or
Derek Smith. If that sounds too
complicated, just email Joanna or Derek any comments you wish to make.
- Thank you for your time in helping us evaluate our webquest.
