Lighting the way for local youth as they prepare to venture out into
the world, Salem Community School Corporation provides a safe and caring
environment for students while guiding them toward academic, professional and
personal success.
Located in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana, Salem Community
Schools serves 2158 students from north and central Washington County.
While taking advantage of its friendly rural atmosphere, Salem Community
School Corporation is focused on providing youth of the community with
state-of-the-art educational opportunities.
Based on prior successes in tackling educational
challenges, the district was selected as one of 26 districts nationwide
to become a member of the Standard Bearer School District Network through
the Schlerchty Center for Leadership in School Reform.
Salem Community Schools is a member of the South Central Area Special
Education Cooperative, W.E. Wilson Education Center and Southern
Hills Study Council. Salem Middle School is an Indiana 2000 School, and
Salem High School has been accredited by the North Central Association since
1917. In addition, our students may choose to attend the
C.A. Prosser School of Technology. |
Covering
approximately 225 square miles, the Salem Community School Corporation
includes Gibson, Jefferson, Monroe and Washington Townships in
Washington County, Indiana. The schools are located in Salem, the
county seat, just west of Interstate 65 in Southern Indiana.

The Superintendent is currently assisted in
the Central Office by an Assistant Superintendent and a Director of Support
Services. The office also includes the
corporation's Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer/Secretary, and
Secretary/receptionist. Salem Community School Corporation and its
Board of School Trustees maintain a longstanding working relationship with
a local attorney who advises the board and the corporation.
